I'm a Coach!

Exciting news! I became a coach today.

It's something I've wanted to do for a long time, and today I decided it was the right choice for me. I love being on the message boards and helping others achieve their fitness goals. I guess I thought for awhile that I needed to be at my goal weight before signing up, but I realized that's not the case. I have been around the Beachbody block. I am knowledgeable about health, fitness, and Beachbody programs. Most importantly I really enjoy helping other people achieve their dreams, the way my coach has helped me to achieve mine.

Anyways, I'm really excited! If you want more info on Beachbody, coaching, or anything at all related to health and fitness, shoot me an email!

Day 45

I can't believe it's already day 45! Time is flying on this program! I'm loving level 3-4 and doing really well! Here are my results so far:

-13.5 pounds
-1.5 inches off bust
-1.5 inches off ribcage (under bust)
-3 inches off waist
-3 inches off hips
-1.5 inches off love handles
-1.5 inches off left thigh
-1.75 inches off right thigh
-0.5 inch off each bicep
(total of -13.5 inches)

I'm planning on moving up again to Level 5-6 (out of the Master Series) for the last 30 days of P90 so I'll be more prepared for P90X. I can not wait to start the X. It's something I have wanted to do for a long time, and I think I'll finally be in good enough shape to make it through!

P.S. I can do 5 boy pushups now. Be impressed!

My Power 90 Journey So Far

I started P90 on July 13th, 2009. I'm doing the program with my girlfriend. From July 27-31st we went to Las Vegas on Vacation. I know what you're thinking...maybe not the best timing! We took the DVD and resistance bands with us to Vegas. We decided to play it by ear and workout if we felt up to it/had time.

Let's face it, when you're on vacation, it's HARD to make time for working out in your hotel room. We didn't do a single workout, but it was ok. We focused on making healthier choices while dining out and splitting the oversized portions that Vegas is famous for. Since we didn't rent a car, we did a LOT of walking while we were there too. I'd say we averaged about 5 miles a day with one day closer to 10.

We returned to our apartment late on Friday night and resumed our workout schedule first thing Saturday morning! We haven't stopped since! We just didn't count the days that we skipped on vacation as part of our 90 days and moved on.

This was important for me since in the past I might have quit after vacation because I wanted to do the program perfectly. It's not important to stick to your exercise program precisely, it's just important that you stick with it! No quitting because it's not the perfect rotation you hoped for!

Anyways yesterday was day 30 and we're still going strong. As soon as we can get the Level 3/4 DVD unscratched we're going to move up and do the second level of workouts! I can already see and feel the results from this program.

My Story

What's this blog about? Who am I? Where are we?

My name is Cassie. I'm 21 years old. I've had a roller coaster of stops along the path to health and wellness in my life and I want to get fit, once and for all, and live the healthy life I've always wanted. Why? Why not????

Let's take a little look at my past. In high school, I struggled with an eating disorder. Stressed out by a hectic family life and a changing body from puberty, I started a cycle of disordered behaviors. I'd starve, binge, starve, binge, starve, binge, starve, starve, starve, binge. I think I started at about 165 pounds (which is healthy for my height). My lowest weight was only 150 pounds (see binges). At the end of it all, when I decided that the vicious cycle had to go and I had to stop the binge/starve cycle, I weighed 200 pounds. Ironic huh? I'm sure I did some terrible things to my metabolism and my body, not to mention the mental distress that was constantly haunting me.

Then I started college in the fall of 2005. I had a bad breakup and decided I needed to lose weight. I didn't want to fall into my old eating disordered ways so I ate 1200 calories a day (supposedly ok but for someone who's working out 45 mins every day and 5'9 probably not enough) and got a gym membership. Pretty quickly I was at 180 pounds and feeling good (even if I was starving all the time).

Then I fell into a relationship with some guy in December of 2006. I had this consistent nagging at the pit of my stomach that the relationship was a bad idea and I was unhappy but somehow stayed in it for 2 years. Not my best choice really. Unfortunately, my unhappiness and his penchant for fast food and red meat left me at my heaviest weight ever, 230 pounds. I was a wreck.

Shortly before I ended our relationship, on December 27, 2007 I started Slim in 6, a program by Beachbody. I only made it for 5 weeks because during the 6th week I broke up with him and my world turned to chaos. I lost 13 pounds and over 17 inches with my 5 weeks of Slim in 6. I felt a lot better about myself and had a renewed sense of direction in life. I knew I wanted to live a healthy life. I knew I could do it. I knew that Beachbody products could help me get there. Unfortunatly I let life (and a lack of internet at home) get in the way of my vision.

I made lots of changes in my personal life, including coming out as a lesbian. I started seeing and fell in love with a fabulous girl named Kara. At the begining of our relationship I weighed about 204 pounds (I had lost about 12 pounds after the breakup due to stress). Then we started cooking each other comfort foods and eating more and more meals at resturants. I worked out occasionally with the Slim in 6 videos and Slim Series, but I never got motivated to start a rotation or stick with it. Before I knew it, it was Christmas 2008 and I was back at 230 pounds, a weight had I vowed never to return to.

In January 2009, I refocused and decided I had to lose some weight (or buy new, bigger clothes). Between January and July I lost about 20 pounds by cutting back on portion sizes and getting more exercise in my life. I went walking and jogging a few times. I did a few of the Slim in 6 and Slim Series videos. I never exercised very consistantly though. I'd say I was averaging about a workout a week.

At the begining of July, Kara and I were talking about how we wanted to get back in shape and lose some of the weight we'd gained together. To my surprise, she said she'd do a Beachbody program with me and start on the path to clean eating. Both of us were ready. We looked through the Beachbody website and I emailed my old coach, Barbie. After some deliberation we decidied to do Power 90 with plans of doing P90X after we were in a little better shape.

Only July 13th, 2009 we started our round of Power 90. Today is currently Day 30 and we are going strong! We plan to wear sexy Halloween costumes and be well into P90X by Christmas.
